Use of intelligent labels to control materials in transit in a manufacturing line

Abstract

The computer manufacturing industry has been increased its production in the last decades. With high volumes and competition the companies must innovated to fulfill the marketing challenges. One of the most common problem in this kind of companies is the lack of control, during the manufacturing phase, when there are a large amount of components that are transiting from wherehouse to production. This operation is known as WIP (work in process). With this actions the control of the material get weak, components can be used for other section for example test engineering or other area. There is also a worry about the security of the components that could be stolen to be sold in the black marketing. Process like the use of inventories are taken but the time and cost are high and the inefficiency of this action can slow down the operation. The idea of this paper is to show the use of radio frequency identification (RFId) system and use it as a helpful tool to get the control of component in the manufacturing, wherehouse etc. The research was made in the computer industry as well other industries that are implanting this kind of technology. The system will also be helpful to make decision and support the security system.
