Abstract

This article poses questions about the value of liberty as a paradigm for organizing society, about the historical reasons that led to this consideration and the need to understand that value not as an abstract concept, detached from social reality, but as a precondition for the current mode of production to develop with a minimum of rationality. In spite of liberal authors call for an obligation for civil society to ensure civil liberties for all citizens, it is speech whose meaning does not lend itself to the practice; instead, its major purpose is to cover up and justify the domination conditions of a society where some are freer than others.
