Abstract

This article discusses presents the results of a survey conducted in eight recycling collection cooperatives, being seven of them located in the city of Campinas, and one in the city of Valinhos. For data collection, a questionnaire was presented with twenty-five questions answered in the form of an interview by seventy-five employees of cooperatives. The research is a survey of the socioeconomic profile of the cooperative members as well as an evaluation of the performance of these workers. Results allow us to notice some characteristics of the group: little work experience, low education levels and high degree of self-motivation. These results also indicate this alternative as being essential to generate employment and income for the cooperative members and the need for improvement of the management in order to increase the performance and improve the working environment.
