Abstract

The PV systems have showed a feasible way to generate electric energy in a wide numbers of applications. One of the important possibilities that have been very well accepted is the stand alone systems. Now, around 60 % of all PV systems in the world are made to be applied in this case [1]. However, in order to offer a continuous energy supply, the PV systems need an energy store system. This requirement is compulsory in stand alone applications for an all sort of reasons: seasons of the year, clouds days, generated power can be different of the load, autonomy of the energy supply, etc. In this paper, within the available storage technologies, we focused in systems with batteries. A description of different PV technologies will be made; different technologies of batteries will be descripting as well. As a conclusion, the work shows that no significant advantage was obtained with the using of NiMH or Lí – íon technologies.
