Abstract

The gestation period is a significant milestone in the lives of women and their families, with their own unique meanings. The loss of a baby during this period is a lived experience individualized and unique, involving not only the physical loss, the presence, but the loss of dreams, plans and ideals. This study aimed to understand through a case of some of the emotional reactions experienced by a pregnant woman after diagnosis of a lethal fetal anomaly. The psychological services were conducted by a psychologist in a improving student program at a public university hospital in the state of São Paulo, a reference assistance to maternal and child health. It was observed during the visits made that the possibility of expressing grief through words and actions in a welcoming environment makes it possible for this moment suffering is bearable and your time properly prepared.
