Approach to domestic violence during nursing consultation prenatally in Basic Health Unit

Abstract

The present study aims to evaluate the approach to domestic violence in the nursing consultation in prenatal care in the Basic Health Units in the region southwest of Campinas-SP. It is the study of data analysis and quantitative description, from October 2010 to April 2011. Results showed that 25 (61%) pre-natal nurses do in the Basic Health, nearly half of 20 (48.8%) of nurses do not address issues related to domestic violence during pregnancy. Over half 23 (56.1%) consider that the degree this issue has been addressed insufficiently. The study concluded that the nurse is not prepared to make approach to domestic violence, and that graduation does not contribute to their training in this aspect.
