Accessibility Study of Train Stations and Terminals in Mogi das Cruzes- SPBrazil and Region

This study presents a survey on the conditions of access to urban terminal Mogi das Cruzes (SP) and region, based on desk review of national laws and regulations on accessibility and universal design. Such statements are intended to inform the development of methodology to perform the field survey in the above regions, and relevant to a description about the accessibility to these spaces for people with disabilities, handicapped, elderly, pregnant women, nursing mothers and other users. In this sense, we tried to initially discover and describe the current accessibility conditions in the stations / rail terminals in the city and region. Therefore, a field research with technical visits to several terminals, train stations was held, bus stations in Mogi das Cruzes and the surrounding area in order to observe and record the current accessibility process, pictorials of being used spaces study. After this step completed, we considered the architectural designs of the same and highlighted the need to adapt them, contemplating the required standards of accessibility and the real needs of people with disabilities, whether they are: the elderly, children or users with reduced mobility. Finally, from the study, a survey of the conditions of accessibility of stations was carried out in relation to the sidewalks, access, architecture, materials, furniture, guidelines, among others, in order to meet all users, as the requirements of spatial accessibility, in the aspects of: spatial orientation, displacement, communication and use. It is hoped that this research can effectively contribute to the terminals of this region have the necessary conditions for effective accessibility of its members.
