The city that seeks to regenerate the urban fabric through the reintroduction of green, with parks, community gardens, among others, meets with the transformation of the micro to the macro. While the development of appropriate public policy reflects the supposed acceptance of the population, popular participation is fundamental to the implementation of projects that seek strategies for building healthy cities. The article aims to describe and address the importance of the involvement of the administrative manager in the project development of a healthy city through case study in Conchal - SP. Six questions were developed to guide the conduct of the conversation with the mayor about the urban planning guidelines of the town, the actions focused on promoting health, as well as the implementation and maintenance of the community garden located in the neighborhood of Planalto. In Brazilian cities, especially in small towns, urban planning has little relevance in the routine of municipal administration. Issues such as restriction of funds, political interests or lack of knowledge by the public management of control mechanisms and urban development ultimately act as obstacles to the development of plans for a planned growth with the focus on healthy city.
