Abstract

Brazil has gone through transition processes demographic, epidemiological and nutrition, producing an increased prevalence of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The NCDS are a public health problem, accounting for 58.5% of all deaths worldwide. There are several factors that can cause a person to have an NCD, among them are the risk factors and does not change the modifiable factors. This study aims to analyze the prevalence of NCDs (obesity, hypertension and diabetes mellitus) in industry workers in Campinas and region, comparing the prevalence of these diseases with the amount of people receiving sickness and disability retirement system by Brazilian pension, and what would be its impact on public health and Brazilian industries. The prevalence is high, and hypertension that stands out the most, and the pension system also has high costs of these diseases, so it is concluded that it is necessary to maintain preventive measures and health promotion will, however measure its effectiveness directing them to the industries, comparing well with the numbers of retirements and disability aid – disease that happens every year to directing these programs.
