Abstract

Functional Electrical Stimulation shows positive effects in the treatment of hemiplegic patients for suitability in the march. Objective: To systematically review the literature on the effect of Functional Electrical Stimulation for the adequacy march in hemiplegic patients. Method: We selected clinical trials published in the PEDro database that investigated the effect of Functional Electrical Stimulation for foot drop and functionality in the march in hemiplegic individuals. The PEDro scale was used to determine the methodological quality of studies. Results: After selection, met 29 articles; of these, 11 items correspond to the eligibility criteria, from 2004 to 2015. Conclusion: After analysis of the articles of this study, it can be concluded that FES can improve motor function, cadence, speed and balance in the march of execution, thus improving their quality of life and reduction in spasticity.
