Abstract

The importance of pharmacovigilance should be promoted, emphasizing the fact that the life of a drug really starts after marketing the pharmacovigilance should be promoted, emphasizing the fact that the life of a drug really starts after marketing. The study aimed to evaluate the frequency of adverse events (AEs) reported by patients the conduct of the professional pharmacist front of this situation , professional knowledge regarding the pharmacovigilance and their perception of the health agencies in Brazil. They interviewed 61 pharmacists in pharmacies and included randomly in the municipalities of Campinas -SP, Jaguariúna-SP, Monte Sião-MG and region. Sixty pharmacists completed the questionnaire and one asked to interrupt the research. The survey was conducted by applying a standard questionnaire to professionals. The results showed that 73% of pharmacists received reports of AEs. However, few professionals report these AEs to ANVISA or CVS-SP (10% and 5%, respectively). Data from this study suggest that it is necessary policies and programs to raise awareness of the importance of the pharmacist in pharmacies and drugstores in the post- marketing surveillance, assuming their role in the receipt, evaluation and, as the case, notification of these events with ANVISA , CVS-SP and / or manufacturer of the medicament. In this way, the pharmacist can actively contribute to the drug efficacy and safety profiles available in the therapeutic arsenal of Brazil.
