Abstract

The study's basic basket of prices in the city of Amparo - SP has been conducted since 2000 by the Undergraduate Program of the Research Department of the University Center Amparense and is a major tool in the fight to protect the consumer amparense. This paper presents the values of the basic basket in Amparo between 2000 and 2007, describes how the search was conducted in supermarkets in town, methodological explains the procedures used in the calculations, confronts the prices obtained from the city of Sao Paulo, compares the evolution of prices of basic basket with a two consumer price index and the average real wages of Sao Paulo, seeking thereby ascertain the actual losses or gains in worker during the period in question.
