Abstract

FMD (Foot-and-mouth disease) is a zoonotic disease caused by the virus Picornavirus family, Aphtovirus genre. Its transmission occurs by aerosol, water, food and fomites. It affects cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. Vaccination is the main tool in the fight against the disease. The ministry of agriculture authorities conducts studies of serological monitoring in order to satisfy themselves of the immune response against the application of the vaccine in regions considered free with vaccination. Based on reports provided by the agriculture ministry, a study was conducted to verify the titration of vaccine antibodies and subsequent immune response of the Brazilian herd.
