More than any other domestic animal, a successful cure must be carefully defined when it comes to horses. Due to the man's use of the horse, for example in sport, and to its nature, a greater demand for techniques for healing fractures has arisen. The techniques of internal fixation of fractures, particularly of long bones, for example, have been great improvements with emphasis on implant improvement in order to support the functional and massive forces, without fail, due to mechanical overload. This research aims to demonstrate the lag bolt technique for treatment, reporting the case of a 16 year old male Mangalarga Marchador equine with first phalangeal fracture. For that, the methodology used was the bibliographical research and after a review of the animal's medical record was made for a case report. According to the case report, the surgery to perform osteosynthesis to reduce fracture, with screw fixation was performed and the result was satisfactory. After 60 days with the immobilized animal, the result obtained was satisfactory and it was released in the field.
