Abstract

Constantly, veterinarians seek anesthesic drugs that are safe for use in surgical procedures. All drugs cause side effects, ranging from physiological to hematological parameters that are usually related to stress and cell marginalization. General anesthesia is a possible cause of acid-base imbalance, which can lead to metabolic acidosis and hematological parameters may decrease during anesthesia due to vasodilation and hemodilution by fluid passage from the extravascular to intravascular space. Anesthesics may affect the function of organic systems and these changes have been studied. However, little is known about this potential effects on clinical pathology parameters.
