Relationship Between Castration and Urinary in Dogs and Cats

Abstract

The castration or sterilization is the most effective method against overpopulation, propagation of zoonoses and reproductive tract deseases in both sex dogs and cats. Urinary incontinence and hormonal disorders are directly related to the castration on these species. The main goal of the present work is to evaluate the relation between castration and urinary incontinence in the occurred cases that took place in the Veterinary Hospital of the Faculty of Jaguariúna. A study was carried out from july to october/2016 with the owners of 42 animals, between cats and dogs, both sex, and the results were evaluated statistically by the Fisher test: considering p <0,05% of meaningfullness. Among the studied animals, only 7,14% the castrated animals presented IU not verifying relation (p>0,05). In the following study, it was not verified the relation between urinary incontinence and castration in cats and dogs.
