Abstract

The text presents the effective use of active methodologies in the construction of the teaching and learning process in higher education and their contributions to the focus on students as learning itself protagonists compared to teaching methodologies "traditional". The objective of this research was to determine effective use of active methodologies in the construction of the teaching and learning in higher education. They are highlighted as the use of active methodologies advantages: student autonomy, critical sense of development and creativity, improved skills development among others. Therefore, it is needed more field studies in Brazil, comparing the use of active methods with teaching methodologies "traditional", helping to raise awareness of the regulatory bodies of higher education in Brazil .
