Abstract

This article treats the theme of motherhood in various aspects, such as the myth of unconditional love, denial of motherhood through practices such as abortion, child abandonment and infanticide, and the legal aspects involved in such crimes. Makes a historical review of the maternal function, since the wheel of Exposed, mechanism to accept abandoned children, female emancipation and the dilemmas of women in post-modernity. Treats also law projects of Anonymous Parturition, as a solution to the growing problem of abandonment of newborns in Brazil.
