The purpose of this study, to verify the association of the violence against the woman perpetrated by the intimate partner, during pregnancy and the exclusive breastfeeding. Cohort study, carry out with pregnant women that did prenatal in the Basic Units of Health, of the Southwest area, of the municipal district of Campinas-SP.They were accompanied during the period of prenatal and after birth n=1239 (89, 8%) pregnant. They didn't conclude the accompaniment 140 (10,2%). High prevalence 270 were verified (19,6%) they told to have suffered violence in the current gestation, being 263 (19,1%) psychological violence (VP) and 89 (6,5%) phyisical/sexual violence (VFS). any association was not observed between violence and exclusively breastfeeding. Risk factors for the no breastfeeding were, newly born with inferior weight to 2,500 grams, to have had problems of health after the birth and to use pacifier (<0,001). The pregnant woman to have presented problems of health, in the moment of the childbirth (0,002). The violence against the woman is a serious problem of public health, being necessary that the services of health create conditions, for the way receive, integral and multidisciplinary looking for in other fields of the sciences instruments, which can contribute to the invigoration and those women's powerful.
