The Congenital Syphilis is a disease that can be entirely preventable with the diagnosis and treatment of infected pregnant women. It is a serious public health problem in Brazil, responsible for high rates of intrauterine mortality. In this scenario, PAHO / MS aims to reduce its incidence to 0.5 cases per thousand live births, proposed to be achieved by seeking the prenatal care and maternity wards, in parallel with the completion of actions of disease prevention and treatment of both the pregnant woman and her partner. This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile, numerical data and the incidence of congenital syphilis in a Epidemiologic Surveillance Group (ESG) XXVI of São João da Boa Vista located in the State of São Paulo, conducted by surveying the database of DATASUS in the period 2008 to 2013. It was observed that during the study period the number of reported cases was rising and that despite the increase, underreporting is still high. The incidence rate of congenital syphilis found was 2.26 cases per 1.000 live births in a population of 58,191 live births of mothers living in the place and year considered. It was also evaluated the mortality rate which showed 6.87 deaths by illness per 100.000 live births. The results confirm the importance of congenital syphilis as perinatal health indicator, since it is a disease with easy prevention and treatment during prenatal care. The high incidence of congenital syphilis allows us to question the quality of pre-natal available analyzed to the population.
