Nutrition cares with carryng children of leukemia

Cancer is a disease characterized by abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells and persist in the same excessive way after the interruption of the stimuli that gave rise to the changes. Childhood and juvenile cancer presents differently compared to that of adults in response to treatment, histology, and evolution. Leukemia is a disease of blood cells and this type of cancer is characterized by an uncontrolled production of leukocytes. People with cancer have rapid and progressive caloric malnutrition due to the metabolic changes caused by the tumor and the increase in their caloric demand. Therefore, the fundamental role of nutrition in oncology is to proceed with the nutritional assessment of these patients by classifying them as to their nutritional status and by developing dietary therapies individually according to nutritional needs, giving them caloric and nutritional support to increase their immunity, Treatment, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Therefore, the nutritionist is responsible for maintaining the healthy and normal growth of the child. This work aimed to contextualize infant leukemia in nutritional terms, presenting and reflecting the functions and importance of nutrition and the role of nutritionist within this context.
