The role of nurses in adult patient’s care during cardiac arrest situation in Brazilian in-hospital environment

Considering the nurse as the first professional to have contact with inhospital Cardiac Arrest situation, he must have skills, competences, and scientific and technical knowledge for the ideal management of team and effective direction of care, a prime factor for a good prognosis. The objective of this study is to identify the role of nurses in adult’s care during cardiac arrest in front of nursing team and interprofessional team in Brazilian in-hospital context. The systematic review study method was used according to PRISMA criteria, which included papers from Google Academic, SCIELO and LILACS databases. We included all studies found in Portuguese that deal with the subject, published from 2010 to 2017. As results we included 14 studies that pointed to the role of nurses are the need for updating in relation to the most recent guidelines in the world, the search for theoretical and practical skills, either personally or by the work institution, through courses and training, and the institution must provide the nurses with the material and human resources necessary for the adequate conduct of patient care in the CPR. Conclusion: nurses must be up-to-date, have theoretical and practical skills for success in CPR, and the institution must provide adequate human and material resources.
