Exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of age is essential for the protection and promotion of infant health. Objective: To identify the main risk factors that influence early weaning. Methodology: It is a study of the type integrative review, carried out from research in database. Results: Through the analysis of twelve articles, in order to identify the variables that influence early weaning, it was possible to find the most diverse causes in the interruption of breastfeeding, from simple causes like pacifier use to more serious causes such as dependent mothers of psychotropic drugs. Final Consideration: We can conclude that most mothers breastfeed only up to 4 months of the baby's life, and the reasons are varied, such as cultural, social and economic. Lack of information also contributes to early weaning, mothers should be supported to breastfeed willingly and do not feel obliged to do so.
