The methodology used was through a bibliographical review, in which they were chosen 20 articles, with resistance training for the elderly as the basis for the analysis. The present article concludes that the great majority of the studies presented here, as resistance training, brings a training method those results in improvements to the functionality of the elderly, mainly strength and power. However, it is noteworthy that these results only relate to the mobility of the elderly, and it is not enough to mention that there is some kind of improvement in the other pillars of the functionality presented by Moraes, which are humor, cognition and communication.
