Abstract

This article aims to analyze the percetions about the practice of becoming a parent, considering the feelings involved, the influences and the assistance offered in this process, in order to understand how the relationship between father and child is constituted. Nineteen fathers who are also students of the University, participated in the study. This qualitative research had as its instrument a semistructured questionnaire of ten questions. It is noticed that there is an advance in what concerns the greater engagement in the paternal relation. But the mother is still socially regarded as the most responsible. It was also observed how family experiences influence the performance of this role and also the stimulation of the woman in the establishment of this relationship. It is concluded that despite the observation of a greater participation of the parents in the present research, it is still a subject that needs more scientific deepening.
