Abstract

Aging is a process that involves genetic, biological, physiological, psychological and social factors, which is directly related to the individual's functional capacities, and the practice of regular physical activity can give the elderly benefits that increase life expectancy and That aging is successful. The aim of the present study was to analyze the relationship between self efficacy and neuromuscular quality. The study focuses primarily on the literature review of the alterations due to the aging process, such as loss of muscle mass, increase in body fat, difficulties to perform activities of daily living (ADL), and systematic practice Of physical activity (FA) may contribute positively to these changes. Second, a field survey was carried out, with 65 individuals over 50 years of age (46 elderly and 19 adults), all of them attending supervised physical activity programs offered by the city council of Arthur Nogueira / SP municipalities and Jaguariúna / SP. We investigated which neuromuscular quality indicators were positively associated with a sense of self efficacy for physical activity. The results demonstrated that there is no relationship between the individual's belief in adhering to regular physical activity and their neuromuscular state. Finally, it is speculated that this belief is due to their experience of life and not physical functionality.
