Abstract

The individual physical characteristics of the dancers, the quality of technical performance and, mainly, the work overload, are directly linked to the onset and frequency of traumas caused by the physical activity of the dance. The overload of work is the most common triggering factor and, often, which makes the lesion even more incapacitating from a functional standpoint, as well as the appearance of compensatory postures. The posture is influenced by the forces to which it is subjected. Given this assertion, it is possible to infer that in the history of physical activity, in the case of ballet, can influence the posture of dancers. Thus, the objective of the present study was to verify the postural pattern of professional and amateur dancers through biophotogrammetry with the postural assessment Software. The objective of this study was to compare the prevalence of musculoskeletal injuries between the two groups of dancers: those considered professional and recreational. Thus, dancers from two academies belonging to the interior of São Paulo participated in this study. Dancers of both sexes, aged between 13 and 47 years, were selected. There was a greater predominance of compensatory postures and a higher prevalence of skeletal muscle injuries in those participants classified as professionals, due to the longer weekly practice.
