Abstract

Acupuncture is a reflex therapy, through point stimulation, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. There are several techniques of stimulation of acupuncture points; one of them is the gold implant that has as main action the prolonged stimulation. Auto-hemotherapy is a technique that consists of autologous blood injection that may or may not be associated with ozone. It is a therapy used to modulate the immune response; however, there is much to study about this practice that probably brings several other benefits to the body. The paper reports the case of a bitch who was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and patellar dislocation and that her treatment was, in addition to conventional acupuncture, a gold implant for hip dysplasia and minor auto-hemotherapy to treat patellar dislocation. The animal had a good response regarding the two techniques adopted in its treatment, considering that both pain signs related to coxofemoral dysplasia and episodes of patellar dislocation decreased significantly. Thus, it is concluded that it is necessary to develop more research related to these techniques, making them more frequent in the veterinary medical clinic and benefiting the animals through the use of these practices less invasive, fast, and less expensive and with positive results.
