Abstract

Cancer treatment is aggressive and often has high metabolic demand, so, the nutrition present a very important factor in this process and understand the nutritional profile and lack of nutrition presence in growth patients with cancer diagnosis can help and improve on recovery and treatment. The main proposal for this study is evaluate nutritional profile for cancer patients followed in an oncology laboratory in Indaiatuba, state of São Paulo. The developed methodologies consist in interview cancer patients with a survey and apply anamnesis clinical with 24 hours recovering, also global subjective assessment, cross check anthropometric data, and identify and build nutritional profile for those cancer patients. As a result, it was identified that the overweight in a main factor in most of patients aligned with calories and protein ingestion. We conclude that overweight may mask the actual nutritional status of these patients, so a thorough nutritional assessment is necessary to detect the true nutritional status of cancer patients and an early and adequate nutritional intervention.
