Abstract

Cultural patrimony, for providing affective relationships with people, defined by the notion of topophilia, applied, which often do not occur, to detect the apt ones and open activities for which they were built. In this context, it aims to present a history of the property Nossa Senhora da Assunção matrix church located in Cabo Verde - MG, emphasizing the processes of reform and restoration by which it was submitted. To do this, it was realized a case study through bibliographic, documentary and field research. This article is justified by the need to understand the potential of this property and its surroundings as a significant place in the city. During its development was observed the different architectural modifications used in the Church and its importance for the growth and development of the municipality, demonstrating a constructive passage of the building and the history that involved the population of that time. The meaning of this place was defined by the interaction of time and space, articulating cultural values and its forms of use.
