Abstract

The stress reaction includes increased secretion of cortisol and catecholamines in an attempt to establish homeostasis. Considered a general response when environmental circumstances increase psychological and also physiological capacity, which causes hormonal and immune changes, as well as an increase in respiratory and heart rate. Thus, the analysis of stress levels can determine and use stress control measures. Therefore, academic life can become a source of stress due to the pressures of the teaching environment, fear of failure, difficulties in dealing with curricular transitions and academic assessments, which are strong stressors for students, since they act directly in the consequences of your future. The present work aims to evaluate the relationship between stress and the academic environment from existing articles that address this subject, and it is possible to observe that the groups most affected by stress are women and younger students, in addition results indicate that there was a change in the organism, to compensate for the effects of the stress suffered. In conclusion, stress is part of everyday life and academic routine, they influence the psychological state of students, and a periodic assessment of their mental health would be a good preventive measure. Results: It was possible to prove that the stress levels in the students are high, mainly from the ISSL scale, which shows that the majority is in the resistance phase.
