Coverage innovations for treatment of skin injuries

an integrative review

Abstract

Technological advances in several areas aim to improve the quality of life for all human beings, as well as in the health area. The technologies used in favor of the healing process are great allies in promoting the quality of life of individuals affected by skin lesions of different etiologies. The knowledge of the innovations in coverings existing on the market by the nursing professional guarantees a better quality of the assistance provided in this process. The present study seeks to explore innovations in the types of coverings used for the treatment of skin lesions, portraying, in addition, the associations of these coverings with existing ones, in order to favor healing in less time, providing greater comfort, through decreased pain, and less risk of complications to the client, in addition to the nurses' performance in the face of such innovations and research related to this theme. For this, an integrative literature review was used. Given the importance of the subject addressed through this integrative review, it is necessary to expand studies on technologies in coverage for the treatment of skin lesions and a greater role of nursing with regard to the use of technologies and their association with treatments conventional techniques for the healing of various types of injuries, as well as a larger scientific production of nursing focused on the subject.
