The Concept of Social Impact in the Brazilian scientific literature

Abstract

At the scientific literature it is common to use important theoretical concepts without due care to their consensual meaning, especially the concept of "Social Impact". Thus, this article aims to conduct a study about the concept of "Social Impact", with the objective of helping researchers on the understanding and correct use of this term. For this, a bibliographic review and a case study were carried out. It is noted that the term “Social Impact” is used, but no consensus was found on the definition. Therefore, based on the studies carried out, this article ends with a suggestion for the concept of Social Impact, which causes (s) positive (or) negative (s) consequence (s) of one or more more actions by individuals, groups or organizations in a given location that directly or indirectly modify a way of behaving before society.
