Abstract

Resilient cities are the result of a coordinated and systemic action among communities, municipal agencies, public and private entities with the purpose of promoting self-protection and Disaster Risk Reduction, based on a targeted and specific actions. The UN, through the United Nations Workshop for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) - makes notes and determines procedures for such guiding actions to be executed and serve as parameters worldwide. Of course, this scope should have the analysis focused on the conditions and particularities of each community analyzed, but the initial parameters are discussed at the global level. This article aims to highlight these parameters, based on the 10 Basic Aspects suggested by UNDRR. We highlight and explain in more detail in this article, from Basic Aspects, Step 2, which Identifies, understands and utilizes current and future risk scenarios, step 4, wich shows to promote resilient urban development and design, step 6, which shows the strengthening and institutional capacity to improve resilience and step 7, regarding understanding and strengthening the social capacity to improve resilience.
