Abstract

In Brazil the rates of interventions in childbirth care and birth have been increasing, such as the practice of episiotomy, oxytocin infusion, and other practices proven not beneficial or even harmful to women as the criteler maneuver and the lithotomy position. The role of the obstetric nurse in humanized childbirth starts from the first principles that pregnancy and childbirth are events in women's lives mostly healthy, which do not need interventions as they are performed in Brazil, is a differentiated care, care already proven by evidence of higher quality. Managers must have alternative means, have behaviors, so that the insertion of obstetric nursing in their services is carried out, because they are offered safe care, with quality and has the best cost bene
