The use of play resources in the child's hospitalization process

Playing is a spontaneous and innate activity for human beings necessary for child development, referring to a therapeutic playful resource capable of providing adaptation and ways of coping with the process of illness and hospitalization. This article aims to analyze the scientific production that addresses the use of playful resources in the child's hospitalization process. It is an integrative review, through consultation using the electronic databases SciELO, LILACS and MEDLINE. The studies raised made it possible to recognize the ways in which the use of recreational resources is used in children's hospitalization, so that it is considered a strategy for coping with illness and hospitalization, providing adaptation to treatment needs and their contributions to reducing stress, improving emotional status and decreasing perception of pain. Finally, the importance of greater theoretical-practical preparation by health teams was also highlighted, in order to guarantee the effectiveness of these practices.
