Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the content inherent in tuberculosis taught in the courses of nursing in the Institutions of Higher Education in a municipality in the state of São Paulo. The bibliographical, documental and field researches were the kinds of methodology used in this study. In order to collect data in this research, we elaborated a questionnaire which has been submitted to the coordinators of the nursing graduation courses. The data has been analyzed under the qualitative approach. Although Tuberculosis is approached on the nursing graduation, we realized it is dispersed within the subject schedule and it approaches mainly the physiopathology. Despite not holding the power of solving all the social problems, the nurse is a professional not only with possibilities of acting in a preventive way, in promoting health, but also on the premature diagnosis of Tuberculosis. It is relevant that the responsibles, directly or indirectly for the nursing graduating students, be concerned about the questions related to Tuberculosis and come up with a review on the contents and approach on Tuberculosis.
