Abstract

Tendinopathies represent a large part of the injuries in athletic horses, causing economic losses, since it often makes it impossible for the animal to return to physical activities. Such affections are common in the thoracic limbs, which support most of the animal's weight and play the role of shock absorber; The superficial digital flexor tendon (TFDS) is the most affected due to excessive exercise and / or trauma. The lesions can be acute, subacute or chronic and the treatment will depend on the phase that is. A very detailed diagnosis should be considered to identify the lesion. From a detailed anamnesis, to complementary tests such as ultrasound. The main goal in the treatment is to start in the acute phase, to decrease the inflammatory and hemorrhagic process, to avoid damages in the collagen fibers, improving the repair and alignment of the tendons. Among the indicated treatments we have cryotherapy, hydrotherapy and systemic drug treatment in the acute phase, and may even be necessary surgical procedures such as "top check" demytomy. According to the case report cited in the paper; It was found that the use of therapeutic laser at the dose of 20 J / cm 2 with transducer of 830 nm, associated with therapeutic ultrasound and 30-minute daily walks is also an excellent treatment for tendinopathies, as it stimulates the remodeling process, decreases inflammatory process and Has analgesic action.
