D. renale is a kidney parasite affecting usually pretty dogs that feed on the streets and those living in areas close to water margins. It is an anthropozoonosis of great importance to public health, where the parasite usually invades the abdominal cavity, but also penetrates the right kidney due to its anatomical location next to the duodenum causing the destruction of the renal parenchyma.
