Abstract

The aim of this paper was to do a bibliographic research of articles related to the historic and sociocultural factors which exercise influence in the construction of the nursing professional’s identity. It was verified that the nursing’s image is permeated by associated stereotypes by its professional history and the sociocultural vision around the body and the work. The representation of the feminine gender as the greater part of the nursing class also reflects in the society determined ideas and images around the profession. All those images represent great influence in the identity construction and professional identity. Besides the historic and sociocultural questions, the complex of subjective and psychoanalytics exercise great influence in the behavior and the construction of identity and identification, both personal and professional. The production sense and the division of work originated in the capitalistic society also had demonstrated great influence in the nursing professional identification. The academic ambit is studied as a great influence factor in the Nursing formation process and, consequently, enabling the nursing into the direction of its professional identity conquest.
