Abstract

Elderly women commonly suffer form osteoporosis, by the fact occur a decrease of estrogen on menopause, thus there is a gradual weakening of the bones of the body, this osseous fragility is progressive. The bone mass decreases to the point where fractures begin to occur in segments of the body, among the most common in the bones of the hip joint. Once that a hip fracture occurs, some complications can associate as a disruption of the arteries that carry blood to the head of the femur, a consequence occurs necrosis of the femoral head, requiring the hospitalization of the patient and even a surgical procedure. In the surgical procedure the placement of a prosthesis substituting the hip joint is made, this prosthesis can be total or even partial. There are several types of attachment, the choice depends on indication required for the best attachment of each patient. Physiotherapy aims to rehabilitate the patient, making the same back the activities of daily living, avoiding complications, especially the immobilism. Demonstrating the care being taken in the immediate post-operative of hip arthroplasty, precautions with respect to certain ranges of motion, exercises released, even changes to be made at home, bringing the best approach for each patient.
