Availability and analisys of cost of specific food products for carrying patients of illness celíaca in the commerce of Campinas – São Paulo

Abstract

In recent years, some aspects of the celíac illness hás been argued in literature, especially related to genetic predisposition, pathogenesis,forms of clinical presentation and diagnostic criteria. In Brazil, importante facts had ocurred in the latest years, as the promulgation of the Federal law of number 8.543 law that has obrigatoriness of the labels in the industrialized products to inform the presence of gluten, whose fact is due to the increase in the numbers of the carriers of disease. In this context, the present work had the objective to investigate the availability of specific food products in carrynh patients of celiac diseases in commercial points in Campinas-SP, evaluating the cos of those products, and comparing them to no specific foods. For this reason the commercial points in the intention had been carried throug visits to verify the availabiliy of gluten-free products and to analyze their values, comparing them to similar foods withI gluten. After the collection of the data it can be observed that of the appraised establishments, most of the supermarkets doesn't present exempt products of gluten and in the other establishments the variety is scarce. Another important point is in relation to the value joined to these products, when compared the similar ones containing gluten, because in some cases there was a difference highly significant. Being can be concluded like this that the readiness of exempt products of gluten is of difficult access, and that when found the cost he/she becomes a difficulty for your acquisition, limiting like this the consumption.
