Abstract

The paper reports a research intervention with family groups of an inland city of Sao Paulo with about forty thousand inhabitants, on the population's needs in health. This is concomitant with a research work of psychoanalytic listening of the subjects of these families carried out by a teacher and interns from the psychology students through visits to families. Were made sixteen interviews and narratives drawn from the experiences, of which four are reported here. Sad and touching stories of encounters the scenario in producing material that reveals family suffering as domestic violence, living with drug trafficking and psychosocial distress unveiled in isolation but the health symptoms reported by households. The listening device was found to be an effective intervention in promoting the host family, the feeling of belonging and an action group to speculate for families seeking changes in the level of the collective imagination.
