Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the scientific production on the Angiotensin II and SHR as a Experimental Model of Hypertension. For a long time arterial hypertension has been recognized as an important factor of risk and/or as accelerator of progression of renal injury in more advanced periods of treatment. It is believed that the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and the alteration of the renal sodium handling become associated with the hypertension and that, due to its vasoconstritand antinatriuretic action, angiotensin II plays an important role in studies about the maintenance of the hidroeletrolitic balance. Although literary references do exist on the diverse ways of intracellular signalling, studies on the activation of a possible negative feedback by the central action of angiotensin II, on the renal sodium handling in spontaneously hypertensive rat, are scarce.
