Abstract

The literature review conducted on the reading of image and the possibility of construction of meaning in the light of semiotic analysis was based on analysis of semiotic theories that propose ways of interpreting the sign imagery, detailing the units as deep as those found the linguistic resources. It was possible to detect important elements in the study of image making the structure of discourse, applied in socio-historical context and reasonable pragmatism in pictorial discourse. This study discusses the importance of the cognitive process as needed for reading and interpretation of the image, enabling the parties tied to the use of language in the central nervous system. All this context, coupled with the use of illustrations in teaching materials back to real sign of the importance of imagery in the learning process as well as stimulating the use of sources of memory, offering profound contributions to the internal construction process of linguistic code.
