Abstract

In order to map the stage of the process of school inclusion of students with special needs in Alfenas / MG, this study analyzed statistics provided by the School Census / MEC / INEP the years 2007 and 2010 in the number of enrollment, private or public area and location of schools, enrollment by type of school and finally, by description enrollment of special needs. Among the tests showed up, which is still the modality of special education that has the highest enrollment of students both in the year 2007 (374 students, 72.6%) as in 2010 (415 students; 64.8 %). It is considered that for reviewing the growing number of students without disabilities who are referred to special services is currently an urgent review of their own categorizations released, as well as its inaccuracies, the process of "self-declaration" shows the fragility of diagnoses, and hides the ineffectiveness of the teaching-learning schools, causing the gap between the many political intentions and the realities experienced in the schools with regard to the social inclusion of pupils with special educational needs.
