Abstract

This analysis aims at a reflection about the relationships of significance contained in the work "History of art for airports", by the Slovene artist Vuk Cosic, available at <http://www. ljudmila.org/~vuk/history/>. This work consists of the way Cosic brings elements of a mass culture (the pictograms) to an élite culture, making a criticism of the process of historization of art and of net-art. The relation between this presentation of the works in form of pictograms and the title of the work suggests an idea of massification of art. Vuk Cosic's idea was to criticise the historization of net-art, which was just starting, in September 1997, as well as the way history is generated, how the dominant myth is coded.
