Continuos improvement applied in a fertilizer production line

Abstract

Abstract: As the globalization takes part in our society, the competition between enterprises in both the national and international market is increasing even more. One way of keeping in that dispute, and even get the competition’s market, is to continuously improve the processes and products with great quality and zero waste and defect. It is possible with the use of some tools. Among all of them, the Kaizen is one of the philosophies which contributes, so that happen s. It has been applied to the Fertilizantes Heringer S/A, which operates in the branch of vegetal nutrition (fertilizers). This article’s objective was application and implementation of the Kaizen’s philosophy on a mixer machine, which does the whole NPK ( Nytrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium) feedstock mixing process, weighing and bagging the product, being ready to be delivered to customer. Positive and important results with this application were obtained, increasing productivity, reducing rework and waste, completing the overall goal was applying the Kaizen philosophy and managed to get a reduction in machine setup, reducing waste, rework and increasing productivity .
