Drawing a line of reasoning in which dance can be the main strand in the process of self-knowledge and social interaction, a study will be approached in the present work about the following dances: acalanto, primitive and African, indigenous, folkloric and sacred circular dance. It has as general objective to base the knowledge about some pre-selected dances and to deepen in the sacred circular dance, with the intention of application in a school context. It has as specific objectives: to know the historicity of the acalanto, of the primitive and African dances, indigenous, folkloric and of the sacred circular dance; to deepen the study of sacred circular dance for further explanation; to emphasize the cognitive, motor, social, cultural, playful and affective benefits present in dances; to measure the sociocultural importance of the aforementioned dances. His methodology consists of a bibliographical survey collected in books and scientific articles, having as basic theoretician Bernhard Wosien. Dance has benefits in several senses, and the present work has been able to draw a panorama about some dances, each one bringing its culture and its contributions in its specificities.
