Abstract

The research proposed in this article aimed to identify the importance of intellectual capital in the development and consolidation of companies that sell clothing in the city of Divinolândia-SP. Intellectual capital is an intangible asset that contemplates the knowledge, skills and experiences of people in the organizational sphere, in which skills are developed that add value to the organization and the people that constitute them. For this, the types of qualitative, bibliographical and field research were used, as well as the techniques of capturing observation and interview data. The achievement of this work was justified by the possibility of identifying and presenting the benefits of the use of knowledge to the society, the companies, and the municipality in which the research was carried out, demonstrating that it is essential to understand that information and knowledge are resources for transforming the market and the individual, and responsible for the survival, consolidation and distinction of one company against others. As results, we obtained the identification of how knowledge is measured and considered by the managers of the study objects, and the existence of strategies used to monitor intellectual capital, in order to use it for the development and consolidation of the same.
